In recent times, the design of gears using computer has become a highly complicated and comprehensive subject. An interactive user friendly low cost software was developed in this book to facilitate the design and drafting of helical and spur gears thereby generating reliable data for use in manufacturing process. The development of a software package using JAVA as a tool is able to produce gear data, accurate and efficient 3D (three dimensional) and 2D (two dimensional) detail working drawings of the designed gears so that a substantial saving in term of time and cost of production is obtained. Results generated by the software shows that the computed face width (for strength check) and wear check for helical gears design as against analytical methods were in relative error of 0.64% and 0.35% respectively. This book should be especially useful in small scale industries to facilitate system of gear design and teaching aid in tertiary institution. Likewise, Research and Development will further improve through the use of this book.
