This book consists of a series of papers about different aspects of recent development in waste management in China, from institutional reform, major policies and economic instruments, to financial performance and marketization. Financial performance of waste management, the key for efficiency and sustainability, has rarely been studied in China especially for small cities. This book presents our work to fill this gap. Major policies related to solid waste management in China are analysed with focus on economic instruments. Experience and lessons learned on public-private partenership in waste management in China are examined.
