An existing instrument to measure the extent of empowerment regarding health is not available and suitable for Thai Islamic culture. Most of empowerment scales are developed in western cultures. Generally, the empowerment scale that was developed for one culture is neither sufficient nor appropriate for cross-cultural study; therefore, different cultures require appropriate constructs and instruments. The contents in this book are including the process to develop a reliable and valid instrument and to determine the psychometric properties of the Health Empowerment Scale (HES). This can lead to assess the extent of empowerment regarding health status for Muslim students. After assessing it and making a clear identification of students health problems (such as for social well-being), this can help to identify strategies for improving and maintaining an optimal level of student s health in schools. This book can not provide for all cultures, religion, population and sample, and setting, but the author hopes it will provide a comprehensive framework for lifelong learning.
