The development of aquaculture has been occurred over the last two decades with a wide range of stakeholders. The impacts of aquaculture along with its value chain are versatile such as nutrition supply to human diet, foreign currency earnings, poverty alleviation and employment generation. This study was conducted to assess employment generation by tilapia hatcheies in Mymensingh area with respect to the type of employees, salary structure, socio-economic characteristics of employees and the livelihood impacts of hatchery based employment. Overall, it was found that a number of permanent employees were found working in the mono-sex tilapia seed production hatchery. Almost of all the employees have developed their livelihood condition considerably compared to their previous conditions.
