A study is presented on the programme of the discipline of General Chemistry for the training of the Education professional in Chemistry. This is a qualitative study, using the discipline's syllabus, regulatory documents, minutes of meetings, results of methodological activities and interviews with teachers from the discipline's teaching staff. Among the results obtained in the analysis, we highlight the elements to be taken into account for the characterisation and assessment of the discipline's programme and how these are positioned in terms of the quality of the professional in chemistry education with a developmental approach.Keywords: General Chemistry - Teaching discipline - Curriculum - Teacher training - Developmental approach.
