Michael J. F. Barresi is Professor of Biological Sciences and Neuroscience at Smith College. He has received the Viktor Hamburger Prize in education from the Society of Developmental Biology and the Sherrard prize for distinguished teaching from Smith College. Michael has pioneered the use of a variety of technologies to engage students and faculty in novel ways with the concepts of developmental biology as well as with researchers making discoveries in this field. Scott F. Gilbert is the Howard A. Schneiderman Professor of Biology (emeritus) at Swathmore College and a Finland Distinguished Professor (emeritus) at the University of Helsinki. He has received the Viktor Hamburger Prize in education from the Society of Developmental Biology as well as the Alexander Kowalevsky Award in Evolutionary Developmental Biology.
