The area of interest discussed is one of the current issues pertaining to Governance and Development. It generally focuses on how sustainable local development can be promoted in Local Communities by Local Governments who are the constitutionally mandated Authorities to perform this role. This is a mammoth task that calls for committed Local Governments, to work with Local Communities and other partners in enhancing sustainable local development. The study seeks to recommend how Local Governments can improve their role in promoting Local Development by using the Developmental model of Local Governance. Developmental Local Governance generally represents a paradigm shift in the Local Governance mandate, as it is an approach which seeks to make Local Governments go an extra-mile from their traditional and mandatory service delivery function towards promoting local socio-economic development within their areas of jurisdiction. The research was conducted in Chipinge RDC area where the researcher noted that a number of problems and or challenges were bedeviling the RDC area. The findings provided by this book, if adopted will go a long way in enhancing locally driven development.
