Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder affecting carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. It represents a heterogeneous group of disorders having hyperglycaemia, which is due to impaired carbohydrate (glucose) utilization resulting from a defective or deficient insulin secretory response. DM is associated with long-term complications damage, dysfunction and/or failure of several organs, (heart, liver, kidney, eye, bone, joints, skin and mucous membrane, blood and nerve system) and also have many oral complications.
