The main aim of this study was to detect the antidabetic and antioxidant activity of aqueous and petroleum ether extract of Platycladus orientalis in Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.Diabetes was induced in rats through an intraperitonial injection of streptozotocine (STZ) (55 mg/kg). In order to detect the antidiabetic activity, the extracts of Platycladus orientals was given orally at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg daily for 28 days. On day 28 the serum lipid profile that is total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein(LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), etc. were estimated.The antioxidant parameters such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), TBRA and coronary artery disease (CAD) were also evaluated.The extracts at doses of 200 mg/kg significantly decreased the blood glucose on 28th day.
