Diabetes mellitus, once considered a disease of developed countries, in Sub-Saharan Africa where malnutrition and junk food coexist, in addition to the explosion in the number of patients, is already responsible for nearly 9% of deaths, with many disabling complications: cardiovascular diseases, kidney failure, diabetic coma. It has risen sharply to 5.8% nationwide and 7% in the city of Kinshasa alone, the capital of the DRC.The objective is to collect information from articles published over the last 20 years and listed in Pubmed/Medline on the role of nutrition and local food intake in the prevention and management of diabetes, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
