Diabetic neuropathy ranks first among the complications of diabetes. In order to evaluate the integral care of the diabetic patient, in terms of early detection and treatment of diabetic neuropathy, research was carried out in health systems and services through a descriptive observational study. 50.0% of the patients presented symmetrical and distal polyneuropathy, 25.9% being older than 70 years. The 87.0% were type 2 diabetics and 40.7% had been diagnosed between 10 and 15 years ago. There was a lack of quality in the follow-up and control in all the indicators studied, highlighting the affectation in the performance of the physical examination. The design of a professional improvement program on diabetic neuropathy is required immediately.
