Coauthors: Ms. Sangeetha L.A. Rajbanshi, Assistant Professor of Pharmacology is actively engaged in teaching, research and service to her profession. Ms. Pallavi V. Badgujar, a Young Researcher obtained her M.Pharm. degree in Pharmacology from Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad in 2012. This book consists of research work duly carried out by Ms. Pallavi V. Badgujar at Babaria Institute of Pharmacy, Vadodara. A study was carried out to assess the wound healing activity of latex ointment from Calotropis gigantea on diabetic wounds in rats. Treatment with 2% Calotropis gigantea latex extract ointment (CGLEO) for 14 days showed statistically significant wound healing effects. The rate of wound contraction was increased and time of epithelisation was found to be decreased significantly in CGLEO treated rats. The volume density of collagen fibres significantly (P 0.05) increased in CGLEO treated rats. The wound healing effect can be attributed to increase in collagen synthesis as observed in both normal and diabetes wound treatment groups.
