The author is actively engaged in prawn taxonomy and fishery of Indian coastal region more than two decades.This book is the product of deep and active interest of author in prawn taxonomy.Present study reveals that a total of 75 species under 19 genera of superfamily Penaeoidae have been recorded from entire Indian Coast.During the present study the genus Parapenaeopsis has been splited into five new genera namely Batepenaeopsis gen.nov. containing two species,Alcockpenaeopsis gen.nov. containing single species,Helleropenaeopsis gen.nov. containing four species,Kishinouyepenaeopsis gen.nov. containing two species & Parapenaeopsis sensu nov. containing three species,The names of the five new genera have been suggested after the name of Bate,Alcock,Heller and Kishinouye,the four famous scientists of the penaeid group and the remaining one is after the name of mother genus,Perapenaeopsis Alcock,1901 sensu nov. Author is trying to prepare a guide of penaeid prawn of Indian Coast.
