Svetlana Nikolaevna Styazhkina was born on August 19, 1956 in the village of Surdeevka, Mordovia district. After graduating from high school in the city of Nizhny Tagil, she worked for two years as an operating room nurse at the hospital of the Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works. Her desire to become a surgeon appeared at the time, when she helped to treat and nurse severe patients with injuries, burns and purulent complications. She is the author of more than 850 scientific papers, 12 monographs, 30 teaching manuals (6 with the stamp of ULM), organizer of four all-Russian conferences on efferent medicine, editor of 12 collections of scientific papers, collection of materials of XVIII All-Russian Symposium on Surgical Endocrinology. Svetlana Nikolaevna is an author of 10 inventions. She was the scientific secretary of dissertational board of IGMA for 5 years on protection of candidate dissertations on surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and forensic medicine. She has supervised thedefense of 17 master's and 1 doctoral dissertation. For 12 years she was the secretary of problematic surgery commission of the Academy. She is the secretary of Udmurtian National Society of Surgeons.
