The GI tract initiate from mouth and proceeds to esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum and ends at the anus.The anatomical position of an esophagus is continuous with the laryngeal part of the pharynx at the level of C6 vertebra. An esophagus connects the pharynx to both mouth and stomach, where second stage of digestion is initiated. After passing through the throat, food moves in the esophagus and is pushed down to the stomach by the process of peristalsis.
