On the basis of per se performance, heterotic response, combining ability estimates and gene actions involved in the expression of yield and its components, the five crosses viz., GW- 411 x K-583, GW-366 x GW-411, RAJ-4037 x GW-411, GW-366 x K-583 and LOK-1 x GW-411 appeared to be most suitable for exploitation in practical plant breeding programme in wheat. These hybrids recorded 59.48 %, 44.21 %, 43.52 %, 43.44% and 41.21 % higher grain yield over standard parent (GW-366) and significant SCA effects in desirable direction for grain yield and some of its components traits. Therefore, these five crosses could be exploited for heterosis breeding programme to boost the grain yield in wheat.
