Synthetic Approach to Trait Development suggested by Abbasian (2012) in JSSIR, is an innovation in foreign/ second language education research, which holds a holistic orientation to the nature of education. Accordingly, man¿s variables including cognitive, affective, stylistic, etc holistically construct his entity so that any educational endeavor should accommodate integration of them to secure its effectiveness. The initial research in this trend has brought about lucrative results; however, the field still suffers from lack of a solid theoretical background. Following this initiation, Abbasian and Mohammadi have in this volume tried to synthesize writing skill development through a Dictogloss-based instruction with writing creativity and self-efficacy. Conducted in an Iranian EFL context, the findings sustain the validity of the Synthetic Approach, though the traits did not show an equal trend of changes. Significance of the study lies in furthering trend of educational research to come up ultimately with a sound theory and further validation of the Approach.
