A didactic strategy for the teaching-learning of transgenic crops is proposed for ninth grade students of basic secondary school in a public educational institution. As an initial activity, the students' previous knowledge about genetic engineering, transgenic crops and transgenic plants was explored. For this purpose, a diagnostic test was applied.
