The Kujuji-foundations from 780/1380 are a vivid testimony to an outstanding personality in Tabriz during the Jalayerid period. Their founder, Khwaja Shaikh Kujuji, appears in the sources as political advisor to the rulers of his time, as urban notable, poet, and charismatic sheikh. The present volume offers a critical edition of the Arabic text of the waqf-deed, with translation and an extensive commentary. The study is also a contribution to the post-mongol history of Iran and sheds new light on the early history of the Safavids as well.
