Ten different Diesel polluted soil within Gwagwalada, Abuja, Nigeria were selected and soil samples were collected from each site. Streaking method involving the use of serial dilutions was employed for the isolation of the bacteria. The number of viable bacterial count were determined. The bacterial species isolated were Salmonella sp., Shigella sp., Escherichia coli and Klebsiella spp. On the whole, the data suggests that of the isolates gotten, gram negative bacteria are most adapted to conditions present in soils polluted with Diesel and hence could be exploited.
