On a mainstream cross-country music tour, Jaime Esperanza is in charge of managing both stage and stars. The headliner, Lacey Leigh Jaxon, is a fast-living, heavy-drinking prima donna with intimacy problems. She's had a brief fling with Jaime, then dumped her for a series of new bandmates. Jaime's heart is still wounded. When Lacey Leigh steamrolls yet another opening act, the desperate tour manager brings on board a Minnesota folk-singer named Kip Galvin who wrote one of Lacey's biggest hits. Kip is talented and friendly with a pleasant stage presence. A friendship springs up between Jaime and Kip-but what about Lacey Leigh? It's a honky-tonk, bluesy, pop EXPLOSION of emotion as these three women duke it out. Who will win Jaime's heart and soul? "Noted for her powerful characterization, authentic detail, and heart-clenching stories, Lake twangs another successful chord with Different Dress. Not one to skimp on realism, she gained an invitation for a walk-through on the Indigo Girls' tour bus and sound stage. Because of this drive for truth, Different Dress resonates not only with an entertaining story, but also with accurate descriptions of behind-the-scenes activities of a cross-country music tour. The book will delight all readers, but with its concert stage settings and original song lyrics, it will especially electrify those who are music lovers." ~JUST ABOUT WRITE.com
