An attempt has been made to evaluate an existing building located in Amravati, Maharashtra, India (seismic zone III) using equivalent static and dynamic analysis. Indian Standard IS-1893:2002 (Part-1) is followed for the equivalent static and dynamic analysis procedure. Building is modeled in commercial software. Various retrofitting techniques namely global and local retrofitting techniques are adopted to achieve desired solution for an existing structure. Parametric analysis has been carried out to obtain most feasible solution by considering various parameters such as nodal displacement, storey drift and base shear. From the obtained results it has been concluded that shear wall has proven to be most effective and suitable retrofitting method for a given existing structure. Inclusion of shear wall in existing structure can be adopted to upgrade the serviceability of the structure.
