The research conducted with the objective of identifying difficulties in the learning of English as a foreign language of the students of the University of Sonora, was developed to serve as a support strategy for the accreditation of English subjects, as a requirement for the graduation of undergraduate students of this educational institution.of this educational institution. This document has key sections such as the description of the problem studied in this particular context, the theoretical framework that frames the research which is focused on the teaching and learning of languages, student motivation and evaluation focused on the language. The methodology for obtaining results takes a qualitative approach leading to data collection through interviews with students and analysis of their oral and written evaluations; the results and conclusions show that it is necessary to support students with their feelings of embarrassment and frustration, as well as deficiencies in the areas of grammar and vocabulary mostly.
