The contemporary digital age is characterized by the significant informatization of society and the increasing role of network technologies, which raises the question of how to ensure the privacy of users and who takes care of the protection of their personal data in the global space. Answers to such questions is the task of this book. The features of informatization as a basis of information society and the role of information technology for the realization of social and business processes are discussed. Reliable data protection must be based on the principles of information security and compliance with the requirements of the legal framework in the field. The book discusses the structural and technological organization of data protection on the basis of an adequate policy and strategy for meeting the requirements of the GDPR. However, regardless of the measures taken, it is necessary for users of services in the digital space to have the necessary level of digital literacy, which requires knowledge of the specifics of technology and especially the possible problems for privacy and personal data protection which are discussed in the last chapter of this book.

Radi Romansky es profesor titular de la Universidad Técnica de Sofía, doctor en Ingeniería Informática (1986) y doctor en Informática y Ciencias de la Computación (2013). Miembro titular de la Red Europea de Excelencia HiPEAC y del Consejo Asesor del "Swiss Innovation Lab". Miembro de la Comisión de Protección de Datos Personales de Bulgaria (2002-2007).
