This work is a try to create the hardware as well as the software required to vote wirelessly in big plenaries. As part of the project a secure transmission protocol had to be designed and implemented to ensure the authenticity of the voting process. A handheld device, based on the Arduino platform, was designed from scratch and, using ZigBee technology, equipped with the necessary antenna, wiring and power to be able to work under difficult weather conditions. The device, called SimpleVoter, a CLI, a web frontend and the specially designed transmission protocol, called HashAl-Protocol, were evaluated and tested with the goal to determine if the solution can be applied in a real world scenario.
