Autorenporträt
Ana Ristovic was born in 1972 in Belgrade, and studied comparative literature at the philological faculty in Belgrade. She has published six books of poetry: Snovidna voda (Dreamwater, 1994, Branko Radicevic Prize), Uze od peska (Rope of Sand, 1997), Zabava za dokone kceri (Party for Lazybones Daughters, 1999, Branko Miljkovic Prize), Zivot na razglednici (Life on the postcard, 2003), Oko nule (Round the Zero, 2006), and P.S. - Selected Poems (2009), winner of the Milica Stojadinovic Srpkinja Prize in 2010. She won the Hubert Burda Prize for young East European poets in 2005. She has translated 18 books of poetry and prose from Slovenian into Serbian, and her own poems have been translated into English, German, Slovak, Macedonian, Slovenian, Polish, Bulgarian, Swedish and Finnish. She lives in Belgrade. Steven and Maja Teref are the translators of Assembly (Host Publications), the selected poems of the late Serbian poet Novica Tadic. Their translations of Ana Ristovic's poems have appeared in Asymptote, Conduit, and Rhino (winner of their 2012 Translation Prize). Their translation of her poem "Circling Zero” was published in the international poetry anthology The World Record (Bloodaxe Books).
