Louis Carr, President of Media Sales at BET Networks, is one of the most well-known and influential African Americans in the media and marketing industries. He has generated more advertising dollars targeted toward the African-American consumer market than any other marketing professional in history. Listed on NAMIC's Most Influential African Americans in the cable industry several times, he has also received the Legend Award from Ad Color in 2013, and served on the boards of the Ad Council; International Radio and Television Society (IRTS); American Advertising Federation (AAF) and more. He is an author, motivational speaker, dedicated mentor and benevolent philanthropist. An advocate for diversity, Mr. Carr consistently hires people of color to enhance the diversity of his sales team, and for more than twelve years, the Louis Carr Internship Foundation has dedicated its efforts to improve diversity in corporate America. He currently serves on the USA Track & Field (USATF) Foundation Board, Cedar Fair's Board of Directors, Drake University's Board of Trustees, and Chicago State University's Board of Trustees. Mr. Carr resides in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, with his wife, Diane.
