Operation Agreement was launched by the Allies in World War II on the night of September 13-14th, 1942 to hit Axis Air Force bases and depots in North Africa. Of all these missions, the most important was Operation "Daffodil", which involved an attack from the sea on Tobruk, coordinated with the action of a mobile land column coming from the desert on trucks. The enterprise was a real failure and resulted in a crushing defeat of the British and their allies.

Francesco Mattesini, nato ad Arezzo (Italia) il 14 aprile 1936. Trasferitosi a Roma nel luglio 1951. A prestato servizio, come dipendente civile, allo Stato Maggiore dell'Esercito, 4° Reparto, dal 1959 al 2000. Collaboratore degli Uffici Storici della Marina Militare e dell'Ufficio Storico dell'Aeronautica, per i quali a prodotto 20 libri e circa 60 saggi. Mattesini è uno degli storici più preparati e apprezzati d'Italia specialmente sulla seconda guerra mondiale. I suoi volumi sono il frutto di un approccio scientifico alla materia, ricerca ricerca e ancora ricerca. Già autore di punta dell'Ufficio Storico della Marina, Mattesini insieme al compianto Prof. Alberto Santoni sono certamente tra i migliori in assoluto.
