To save the earth for present as well as future generation disaster resilience is the urgent need of the hour , India is very much vulnerable country to the several types of disaster. Apart from that rapid growth of urbanization the pressure of population also increase the India's vulnerability to disaster . Indian subcontinents for its geo climatic situation are very vulnerable to several types of natural disasters . The proper and modern policy framing is of great importance. The modern techniques are to be applied for better result in disaster management. The causes of disaster like urbanization and industrialization neglecting the impact on environment can be rectified by framing appropriate laws and policies and proper implementation thereof. The whole world is now emphasizing in disaster risk reduction approach. Capacity building, preparedness and early warning and forecasting system are to be emphasized to minimize the loss arising out of disaster. The media can play a vital role in this regard. The active co-operation of several governmental and non-governmental organizations and mass awareness are very important to combat the challenges of disaster. It can be said that adequate laws and policies and effective strategies to combat disaster can make the country disaster resilient. It is true that the happening of the natural disaster is beyond the control of man, but the case is reverse in case of manmade disaster. Similarly the quantum of natural calamities and losses due to such disaster can also be reduced as most of those calamities are induced by human activities causing continuous degradation and severe damage to the environment.
