Autorenporträt
Richard Corsair Melcher is the youngest of nine who, after growing up in rural Minnesota, now calls urban Milwaukee, Wisconsin his home. He began writing poetry and prose in the spring of 1982 and has published three books: Bipolar Balancing Act (2002) and Teachable Moments (2007), and now, Discerning Bipolar Grace, a memoir chronicling the triumphs and struggles of living with bipolar disorder. Rich is currently completing two other books: Just a Little Somethin' (an enhanced edition of Teachable Moments) and a book of selected poetry entitled Soul In Motion. Rich's foundation for writing these books stems from 10,000 pages of journal entries written in the past 27 years, which have been instrumental in forming his personable, conversational writing style. Focusing on urban volunteer ministries in Milwaukee, Rich is a non-crisis phone counselor, a home visit specialist for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and a meal program assistant at area churches. Also, Rich and his wife Sandra have recently established an educational consulting business called Authentic Journeys. The main goal of Authentic Journeys is to impact area youth and adults by presenting interactive speeches on various issues surrounding the topic of RESPECT-to bring greater understanding and compassion to the lives of those they reach.
