La Dra. Reshmi Lahiri-Roy tiene un Doctorado en Inglés, Maestría en Estudios Feministas de la Universidad de Canterbury; M.A Inglés, B.A. (Hons), Inglés de la Universidad de Bombay y Diplomado en Periodismo. Enseña en el Centro de Asia del Sur de Nueva Zelanda, Universidad de Canterbury y ha publicado su trabajo académico en revistas internacionales.
