This study covers the set of theories focused on the study of black identity, which seek to explain the various ways in which black people identify with other people from the same racial group, and their reaction when subjected to discrimination. The perspective of this study is that it seeks to understand how black quota holders at UEPB's Centre for Human and Exact Sciences, in self-classifying as "black", organize their daily relationships, what elements they use to construct their identities and how they deal with the more structural issues of discrimination and prejudice against black people in Brazil.
