Small Business or Small Scale Industries is considered as the spring board for entrepreneurs to grow from small to big. Besides, they provide large scale employment, improve the standard of living, and ensure more equitable distribution of income and so on. Thus, to encourage the prospective entrepreneurs and to promote small scale industries, Government of India started a noble programme called as Single Window Scheme in the year 1978. Thus, the DIC came into existence from 1st May, 1978 toprovide all the services and facilities to entrepreneurs under a single roof for setting up and development of small and village industries. These include investigation of raw materials and other resources, supply of machinery, equipments and raw materials, arrangement of credit facilities, marketing and opening of cell for quality control, research and extension.
