Literature related to the role of a superintendent's impact on student achievement in a school district has identified that, not only can a superintendent impact student achievement, but can also develop a culture that involves everyone in academic achievement efforts. This book described the activities and strategies that characterize the ways in which superintendents and principals work together to strengthen instructional leadership and build shared and collaborative leadership in order to turn low-performing schools into schools that outperform their demographic peers. Through the superintendent's leadership, principals and school staff were empowered to raise achievement scores of a low socio-economic population of students.
