The book titled Divulging the Myths in Harry Potter seeks to examine and highlight how popular children's fiction like Harry Potter and its series employ the use of myth and its archetypes and how the protagonist's journey has largely to do with the known norms of the hero's journey in the already established notions by authors like Joseph Campbell. The aim of this Dissertation is to discover to what extent can JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as well as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets be considered a mythological story. It discusses JK Rowling's first and best-known novel, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. The focus of this thesis is on the influence of myth on the main characters of the novel. The approach used in this study is mythological analysis, particularly the concept of archetype. The study begins with the identification of characters, then compares them to characters in mythology to find the connection between them.
