This paper looks specifically at the results and benefits of the genome project, the advances in DNA technology, and the potential benefits and military application of each of these areas and sub-areas. Specific DNA technology areas include genome mapping, DNA manipulation to fight disease, DNA manipulation to enhance human performance, DNA produced vaccines, and DNA technology in surveillance. Additionally, this paper addresses current AF/DoD research efforts and provides specific recommendations for USAF investment and recommendations for further study as it relates to these technologies.
