This is a true story narrated by a fictitious Native American boy, about his people, a tree, a moth, a wasp and a river and how they all share the same name.
Ted Zislis made his professional career as a healthcare provider, medical educator and scientist. In his retirement, he has re-invented himself as a naturalist and an artist, volunteering for the Phoenix Zoo and the Arizona Museum of Natural History. As such, he enjoys both learning about and talking about animals on the verge of extinction, the dinosaurs who have already gone extinct, and the environmental and climate changes that are currently impacting our world. Ted has had a fascination with insects since his early childhood days. Do Caterpillars Really Have Lips is his first attempt at both writing and illustrating such a book. In doing so, he has developed ideas for more projects of a similar nature. He maintains an ambitious agenda of writing, painting, creating ceramic arts, wood working, glass sculpting and playing jazz piano, drums and vibraphone in multiple ensembles. In his spare time he enjoys biking, horse riding and scuba diving.
