Autorenporträt
Alice Faryna grew up on a small farm in Perry, New York. She was among three women admitted to the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1953. During a career that spanned 40 years, she worked in a variety of settings all over the United States: private practice, neighborhood health centers, VA hospitals, research in paramedical professions, and academic medicine at Wright State University. Her final career was an administrative job in the Medicare program. All these experiences inspired her to write a novel illuminating the daily lives of a group of medical colleagues grappling with personal problems while working within a system undergoing disturbing changes affecting their professional lives and the lives of their patients.
