Between 1941 and 1943, most of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe, including the towns of Dokshitz and Parfianov in Belarus, were systematically wiped out by the Nazis and local militias. The English translation of the Dokshitz-Parfianov Yizkor Book contains thirty-six personal histories, collected over a ten-year period. New appendices of material collected since the publication of the original Yizkor Book in 1970 have been added. Included are photographs, documents and descriptions of the Jewish communities of pre-war Dokshitz and Parfianov. Then first-hand accounts of the Shoah and of the armed resistance of Jewish youth to the Nazi occupiers are presented. And finally, there are accounts of those who went on to pioneer in and fight for in the establishment of the State of Israel. With gratitude to the former residents of these towns now living in Israel and the Diaspora whose stories are collected here, it is our hope that this book will serve as a memorial to the vibrant now-extinct Jewish communities of Dokshitz and Parfianov. This memorial book was translated by the Yizkor Book Project of the on-line Jewish genealogical web site JewishGen.org. The book was published in 2017 by the Yizkor-Books-In-Print Project of the Yizkor Books Project.
