Lunga esperienza nello studio dei cetacei, è il veterinario ufficiale del Ric O'Barry Dolphin Project, una delle più grandi Associazioni per la tutela dei mammiferi marini a livello mondiale. Il suo impegno è volto soprattutto alla salvaguardia dei delfini liberi e alla re immissione in natura di quelli provenienti da periodi di cattività.
