The book used before and after scenario to describe domestic production and marketing under varying trade policies with emphasis on poultry businesses in south east Nigeria. What happened with poultry production inputs as policy changes with respect to trade policy in Nigeria were highlighted. There were many agricultural policies whose aim was to increase agricultural production. Some of these policies were either discontinued or abandoned. The book used trend analysis to examine what happened before (1994)and since(2009) the ban. Inconsistent policies over the years affected poultry businesses in the region. Producers are sourcing their input locally and this has implication for other aspects of Agriculture. Production has actually increased but the cost of input and actual price of poultry product was high. Producers have increased their stocking capacity to take advantage of the price incentive. Consumption has also tilted towards local poultry products as against imported poultry products. Import prohibition stimulated domestic production at a low level within the short run. If the poultry ban is sustained , Nigeria might be sufficient in poultry meat in the long run.
