The major trading zones for Groundnut in India are Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Gondal & Adoni in Gujarat, Karnool in Andhra Pradesh and Devengere in Karnataka. Tamil Nadu is the largest producer in India and produced 9.20 lakh tonnes per annum from an area of 3.30 lakh ha and productivity is 3442 kg/ha. There existed frequent price changes in Groundnut over years since consumption of oil is largely affected by import of edible oil into India
