Violence against women has been acknowledged worldwide as a violation of basic human rights. In Egypt, according to Egypt Demographic and Health Survey 2005, almost half of ever-married women in the reproductive ages have experienced violence. Women who reported physical or sexual violence by a partner were also more likely to report having had at least one induced abortion or miscarriage than those who did not report violence.
