The main objective of this research in Ouagadougou is to analyse the factors that explain domestic violence and to propose solutions for its reduction. The first hypothesis is that domestic violence is explained by individual factors in the city of Ouagadougou. The second hypothesis states that relational factors determine domestic violence in the city of Ouagadougou. The third states that in order to reduce domestic violence in Ouagadougou, specific actions must be taken in favour of its prevention, its repression and the care of its victims. The qualitative method supplemented by quantitative data is the approach used to verify the hypotheses in the field. The analysis shows that the domestic violence suffered by the women surveyed is divided into three factors: individual factors, relational factors and societal factors. On the other hand, the determinants of domestic violence suffered by the men surveyed stem from certain individual factors and relational factors.
