Annamarie E. (Padilla) Baca, a Latina author from Albuquerque, New Mexico, conspired with her grandmother and illustrator, Rita Crespin, to write a book. Together, they created the captivating world of Don Pino and his friends, who live in the bosque along the Rio Grande in New Mexico. Annamarie is neither a writer by education nor trade but rather by wistful willingness. Mary Rita (Crespin) Jaramillo is originally from northern New Mexico. She was born in Trujillo and later moved to Albuquerque. Even as a child, she was an artist. Her artistic nature presents itself most prominently in paintings - oils, pastels, watercolors, pen and ink - but is also displayed through writing, weaving, embroidery, music, and gardening. She has studied under talented painters but is also a student of life - learning and honing her crafts through trial and error. She takes pride in teaching and coaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the beauty of art. They, in turn, take pride in the love and lessons they have received from her.
