Originally published as Dorothy and the Wooden Soldiers, this book runs in the same vein as March Laumer's The Wooden Soldiers of Oz, a liberal and "Ozzified" version of Aleksandr Volkov's Urfin Dzuhs i Yevo Dyerevyannie Soldati, which, in turn, is a sequel to Volkov's heavily embellished Russian translation of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Volshebnik Izumrudnogo Goroda. Though the original publisher has long since passed beyond the Shifting Sands, we are glad to breathe new life into the project, and make it available once again for people to enjoy!
