Like The Original Douglas the Rabbit Story, this story is inspired by the beloved bedtime stories my dad told when I was a child. This book takes us back to the previous spring, when Douglas the Rabbit befriends a skunk, a chipmunk, a fox, and more in his search for the cardinals' missing egg. Once again, there's natural beauty, curiosity, risk, connection with others, and returning home at the end of another adventure, safe and sound. Once again, there's natural beauty, curiosity, risk, connection with others, and returning home at the end of another adventure, safe and sound. The story shows how helpful attitudes can lead to rewarding outcomes and lasting friendships. In that spirit, I am deeply thankful for all my friends, each unique and dear, and the twists and turns that brought our paths together.

Autorenporträt
Before kids, I had a busy professional life as a lawyer, teacher, and caseworker. When we had our first child and moved overseas to Prague, I put that career on hold. Later, when we settled in Wisconsin to raise our three kids and fourteen pets, story telling provided a creative outlet and great fun. I was thrilled later to return to my hometown of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, after decades away, to live close enough to the ocean to watch the boats, the weather, and the wildlife. Still, I wasn't prepared to discover a gray seal pup one cold winter day, right in our front yard. What ensued was a rare opportunity to witness firsthand the response and care provided by Marine Mammals of Maine. I hope I never forget the sunny spring day when the seal pup was released in Casco Bay. This book is my way of sharing all that I learned and saying thanks for this inspiring experience.
