Autorenporträt
Hi, My name is Isabel Carter, I live in the beautiful coastal town of Batemans Bay in NSW.I originate from the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland and came to Australia over 30 years ago and have never looked back! I love it.I am a mother of three grown boys, it's been challenging as I have raised them alone. From the age of two I aspired to be a nurse and achieved my dream qualifying as a Registered Nurse in Oxford in the UK over thirty years ago. Most of my nursing career has been spent in theatre assisting surgeons and dealing with many critical dilemmas and incidents. I was also a tutor to nursing students later in my career. Imparting the gift of knowledge has always appealed to me, it has also allowed my passion of telling stories to thrive. Death has been a daily part of my life as a theatre sister and dealing with relatives of the deceased and dying- everybody has a story.Crime has always fascinated me as have the reasons and emotions surrounding the victims and perpetrators. I was fortunate when a student nurse attending a three-month stint in psychiatry to stay in the home of Agatha Christie in Wallingford in England. It was inspiring for me to think I slept in the room where the great lady of crime had lived and created her stories. During the time working at the local psychiatric hospital a murder was committed. It was compelling and dramatic, and I have always wanted to write a story around this incident. I have always loved to tell a story and now I have the time to do so. Weaving the experience I have had into creating the characters and situations they find themselves in.Adding an Australiana flare to the dialogue with a mixed bag of race, culture and religion within the characters there is an honest account of observations I have encountered. If you love crime as I do, then I certainly hope you will enjoy reading my first crime novel. 'Down in The Devils Hole'Now currently adapted to a podcast starring Iain Glen as Detective John Macgregor, with Voyage media.
