I started this little book about thirty years ago, when I discovered how difficult it was to own and operate a dental practice. I had no idea I'd be running a business when I decided to go to dental school! I had absolutely no business savvy, made every mistake possible, and when I realized my skills were better suited just doing the dentistry, I sold my practice. Starting with a degree in Dental Hygiene, then moving on to Dental School, I've probably worked in every dental setting you can name. There's an associateship, corporate, prison, nursing home, Indian Health Care, and educational settings, just to name a few. I've worked them all. As time went on, the more doctors and team members I worked with, and the more patients I treated, I was able to gather an abundance of information that I felt patients should know. This information wasn't something I needed to write down; it was ever present in my memory. I used to wonder how a doctor of dentistry could retire and give up everything they'd worked so hard to achieve. Now I'm retired and I sure don't miss these issues I've shared with you. My only hope is that you might view us a little differently now that I've shared our perspective of your visit to the dentist.
