The book is an individual work of Dr. Mitra, who physically toured the city and visited the archives of all different categories. As there was no documented list of Archives in Kolkata, Dr. Mitra compiled the total list of 46 archives and this book represented the archives from her compiled list.

Dr. Sanjukta Mitra is a Librarian in Rani Birla Girls¿ College, Kolkata. She also teaches at Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta as guest faculty. She has done her doctoral degree on ¿archives of Kolkatä.Calcutta University. She has many publications at national and international level. She is a travel writer too.
